2011 Five Peaks race date is Saturday April 9th. In-person registration is at Mountain Outfitters and Amazing Grace in Breckenridge.

The Five Peaks includes 8,650 ft. (new more technical course for 2011) of vertical and four separate ascents in the Ten Mile Range behind and in Breckenridge Ski Resort. Eighty teams of two will skin, climb, ski and traverse Peaks 9, 8 and 7. While The Five Peaks course will be demanding in terms of vertical and time, the course is designed so that teams that are near the 2:30 pm cut-off time will be moved ahead on the course and still make all summits.
If you're interested in racing The Five Peaks but have never raced a ski mountaineering race it is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED that you race at least one of the COSMIC events in Colorado or any of the USSMA events listed.
Race Categories: Men duo/ Women duo / Mixed duo / Vet 101- new for 2011, combinded ages of team members must add up to at least 101.
Required gear:
boot crampons, skis, skins, backpack, beacon, shovel, probe, helmet, wind layer, extra gloves, balaclava or Buff.
EVENT SCHEDULE
Friday:
4-7 PM: Late registration and packet pickup at 500 S. Park Avenue (N. of Base Mt. Sports)
Directions to Registration: Park in the "F" lot near the Riverwalk Center. Follow orange arrows to the conference room to the North of Base Mt. Sports.
6-6:30 PM - Optional race meeting, course and weather update for racers
Saturday:
5 AM - Conference room opens to racers to change and leave gear. Clothes may be left here for the day, racers may also leave warm clothes at the start line for transport to the finish area.
5-5:45 AM - Maggie Base Area Peak 9 - Mandatory beacon and gear check-in
5:50 AM Start area - Pre-race course briefing
6:00 AM Race Start
7:30 AM - First racers to summit of Peak 9
10:30-11 AM First racers finish at base of Peak 7
2:30 PM - Cut-off time for climb of Peak 7 at Ore Bucket backcountry gate
4 PM - Course is closed, all racers must descend from closest checkpoint
2 PM-5 PM - Racers collect clothes at base area of Peak 7 and take gondola to base area
3 PM-5 PM - Happy Hour at Kenosha Steakhouse (301 S. Main St.)
5 PM-7 PM - Dinner at Kenosha Steakhouse
